With our new site up and running, we were able to provide a turnaround time, most companies would dream of. Galleries were set up before the show and images edited on the fly and posted directly to the client gallery for the event. All this, was done after each session which each lasted a couple of hours.
What did this mean? The event publishers had content immediately after each session and used that to further promote the event each day. It also gave the PR teams images to disseminate to relevant news outlets.
From our workflow position it also meant that all processing, uploads and links were completed by the end of the event. Our Client Area also allows for unlimited sub-gallieries and so it gives our clients a structured view of the week in images. We supply the images and they use their gallery on wearehector.com as a ongoing viewer.
Shooting typically started at 8.30am each day and finished up around 6.30pm shortly after the drinks reception each night. Whilst we were there to cover the event for the publisher - the brief was to ensure we had shots of every single speaker, around 110 - we also covered the exhibition floor and importantly, ensured that plenty of images of sponsors logos and areas were included. It's not just about head shots, we keep in mind the context iof the event we are working and so try to frame images so that the view can see part of the presentation or the audience.
The key lights on the conference stage weren't bad and so no artificial light was required just a fast lens with VR and a little push of the ISO.
The Awards evening was held at the brilliant HAC Artillery Garden in a huge marquee for around 1,300 guests. A black tie event, the host for the evening was comedian Stephen K. Amos, who did well to keep a notoriously tough crowd laughing, mostly...
So, midnight came and the week ended. Hard work, but a very happy client.
