On this shoot, whilst we still layered images to bring out the wide range of tones and exterior detail, we also introduced a few additional light sources by way of our studio flash heads. However, we didn't want to fill all the space with daylight balanced light (we wanted tungsten, warm and welcoming). So we used the the heads just with their modelling lamps. Running more than two heads on a building site has it's own problems so we took mutliple shots but reposistion the heads in each to bring out detail in specific elements - such as the back of a chair, or bottle of champange.
This process is time consuming and requires a good deal of post-processing but on a shoot like this the rewards are great. Here's a couple of images SOOC (straight out of camera) so you can the difference to the final shots. Sometimes it's not huge, but the devil is in the detail.
